MASSHOUSING

MassHousing is a quasi-public agency that has provided over 29 billion dollars in affordable housing to local communities in the Boston area. On top of this, they also have their own green bank that we helped establish. We will be developing multiple slide decks that provide information on PV systems, the finances (grants, loans, etc.) on them and ways to incentive communities to build solar and PV systems with MassHousing's green bank.

SOLSTICE

Solstice is a solar-based organization that educates and organizes community solar to over 12,000 subscribers across the nation. They have over 50 projects and have donated over $300,000 to ambassadors and community organizations. We will be helping them identify nonprofits that align with their mission statement so that they can fund their green energy campaigns. Furthermore, we will help plan their strategy for how they will reach out to them.

SOLAR CITIES

Solar CITIES is an award-winning nonprofit that delivers biogas solutions in cities and rural communities around the world- from Israel, Nigeria, Portugal, Budapest, Slovakia, Himalayas, and more. They are mainly asking us to write up a summary of residential biogas (IBC tanks) and how they could be implemented into urban areas and farms. This information is useful as it will help local Philadelphian farms push for grants in the Department of Agriculture.

Coalfield Development

Coalfield Development is an organization based in West Virginia that is working on improving their reliance on clean energy by providing over 8,000 new jobs and $160M in investments to the region. With this, we will be exploring the in’s and out’s of hydrogen power: everything from policy and workforce development to efficacy and costs.

Past WORK

Past WORK

Mass housing

As Equity’s oldest partner, MassHousing is a quasi-public agency that finances affordable homeownership and rental housing opportunities in Massachusetts, all without the use of taxpayer dollars.

Equity has supported MassHousing’s efforts in becoming the nation’s first Green Bank focused on affordable housing. We have analyzed the Inflation Reduction Act to find opportunities for increased funding for affordable housing projects, conducted research to aid the solar transition for affordable housing in Boston, and more.

Coalfield development

Coalfield Development is a leading nonprofit which activates the creativity to innovate and cultivates communities of opportunity in central Appalachia. We have analyzed and proposed guidance regarding policy and technical concerns of micro hydro power in the past, and are hyped to work with them again!

Wallowa Resources

Thriving rural communities need strong economies, wholehearted commitment to taking care of the land and water, and top-notch learning opportunities. Wallowa Resources’ mission is to empower rural communities to create strong economies and healthy landscapes through land stewardship, education, and job creation. They accomplish this by working together with the community, partners, and us.
Equity’s work with Wallowa Resources includes consulting about biogas for a workforce housing community, and informational door drops.

National Center for appropriate technology

The National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) is one of America’s oldest and most established nonprofits, based in Montana. They operate the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Clearinghouse with APPRISE, along with the Agrisolar Clearinghouse. Equity aided in NCAT’s development of technical assistance toolkits for low to moderate income individuals that will provide education on steps they can take to create a more comfortable environment in their homes while reducing energy costs and conserving energy resources.  These toolkits consisting of instructional publications and resources have been incorporated into the NCAT website.
