Luciano Di Fiori

A Partner with McKinsey’s Energy Insights, leading the team in the Americas and focused on oil, liquids, and OFSE related market perspectives. He joined McKinsey’s Houston office in 2009, where for the past 9 years he has focused mostly on the oil and gas industry. Luciano has served E&P, OFSE, midstream, and downstream clients in the North American onshore space, and internationally in Latin America, Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Luciano’s responsibilities within Energy Insights:

§  North America O&G: built and expanded assets in O&G that have been used in 56 client studies since 2016. This includes the North American Supply Model (NASM) which models the oil and gas market at a very granular level with 150+ basins. In 2017, I have been leading the creation of a NA Gas Flow & Basis tool. This tool (still under development) has been successfully deployed in a study with Exxon, who confirmed they will subscribe to it, and presented to other clients that have also expressed interest in licensing the tool (Southwestern, Repsol, Hilcorp)

§  Global OFS: the EI team and assets have been critical in expanding Firm’s success in the OFS space. Built assets (Global Offshore Rig Model, NA Onshore Rig Model, Global Wells Model) that have been used by 37 client teams since 2016. Partnered with the service line to create a new tool – OFScope (a NA market sizing tool for all services). This assets has already been deployed in a market scan work for Carlyle, a strategy study for Weatherford, and a digital piece for Haliburton. Other clients have expressed interest in the tool including Nine Energy and Cadent Energy Partners. We have plans to expand this tool internationally to repeat the success in other regions

§  Global upstream and downstream: revamped the Firm’s assets in these sectors to be able to support 36 client situations since 2016. Main deliverables include comprehensive market perspectives refreshed twice a year that can be used directly with clients. Currently working on partnering with data vendors (e.g., IHS) to increase the market reach of these efforts and support more granular analytics to the Firm’s clients

§  Petrochemicals: co-lead the launching of Chemical Insights (JV with Chemicals Practice) and developing new tools for this sector. Building a team within my organization (currently solution manager –Autumn- and 4 analysts/specialists) to replicate the success EI had in the energy space into the chemicals space
